Ghirardelli Baskets
Which chocolate is considered to be the best? Ghirardelli or Godiva?
I’m looking for Christmas baskets filled with chocolate, milk and dark, and am having trouble deciding which brand of chocolate will be the best. Any suggestions? Brands other than Ghirardelli or Godiva are welcome!! I want to spend about $30.00 to $50.00., and it would be great if shipping was FREE!!
I used to love Godiva. Some of it I still think is really great, but most of their stuff isn’t actually as good as it’s cracked up to be. It’s one of the more widely commercialized brands though. I’ve heard See’s is really great, but I personally haven’t tried it yet, so I can’t give much of an opinion on that. But my new absolute favorite is Moonstruck. They’ve got some cafes around similar to the way Godiva has their own retail stores, but Moonstruck’s are a lot more fun. They’ve got chairs to sit down in and eat your truffles or sip your chocolate drink. They’re the absolute best chocolate I’ve had so far, but I’m always on the lookout for more to try! I’ve also recently found out about Ethel’s, they look like they’d be good too, but I don’t know too much about them either.
And if you’re going to choose between Godiva and Ghirardelli, I’d say the Ghirardelli chocolate tastes better, but if you want truffles, go for Godiva. Their G Collection is fabulous, although it’s more about flavors other than chocolate and it’s definitely on the expensive side. They’re very pretty pieces, but the shells of the truffles are very thin, so you don’t get a lot of chocolate flavor unless it’s specifally a chocolate piece. I’ve tried most of Godiva’s stuff, so ask me if you want help there. Good luck!
