Surprise Hawaii trip for hubby – ideas?
So I’m planning a surprise graduation/anniversary trip to Hawaii for my husband. I’m planning on telling him a week or 2 before we leave, but I’m not sure how to tell him. Here are some ideas I had:
Gift basket- with things like Kona coffee, a lei, macadamia nuts, beach towel, sunglasses, a pineapple, etc.(any other things I could put in there??) and then our plane tickets in an envelope
Have a “Hawaiian” evening- I’ll make some sort of Hawaiian dish (suggestions??) and maybe wear some coconuts and grass skirt 
I’m open to ANY and ALL suggestions you may have! Thanks!
Your husband will be VERY happy with his surprise!
Don’t forget to put sunscreen in the gift basket. Find a turtle figure, since we have them here. If you can find a seal. And a whale. Monk seals are cute too.
Making a Hawaiian dish is a little tough since majority of the ingredients needed to make anything local is not found so easily up on the mainland (the rest of the US states), but it’s manageable.
But alas, after searching the Food Network site I came across poke! (Pronounce pok-eh). Here you go.

Here’s another dish. The only reason I chose it is because it’s a favorite of mine. Good luck finding ti leaves, since that is what wraps the flavor of the pork.

For the Hawaiian evening download some Hawaiian music, put it on a CD, then play it during the meal (or whenever you want the night to end).
