Wicker Garden Furniture – The Story
Furniture is an important part of societies in the world. Since long before the beginning of recorded history, people have used at least some forms of furniture. Before that there can be no doubt that they use the parts that benefit all around them, like a good-shaped rock or log, with the same end result.
While the presence of furniture has not changed in all this time, though the furniture itself has very much changed over the years. Basically every aspect of furniture has changed with the possible exception of its basic purpose.
One of the most interesting aspect to look at opportunities through from time to time is the material used in the manufacture of furniture. Some materials, like stone, most have disappeared, replaced by new things such as plastic. And other materials remain.
In fact, the rattan garden furniture is a modern incarnation of an ancient heritage furniture construction. The processes used in the manufacture of wicker garden furniture is not new. They have been used, in some variation or another, since the days of ancient Egypt, and maybe even further.
Wicker has its roots in the culture long gone, where people must make their furniture out of whatever they had in hand.While nations such as the ancient Egyptians may not have all the abundance of building materials. But there is one thing that they have a virtually unlimited supply: the weeds.
Nile River have banks that were lined with reeds by the thousands.
With so many of reeds around, it was only natural that the ancient Egyptians would find a constructive use for them. That they do with weaving reeds together into a wicker basket and furniture used for centuries in ancient Egyptian empire.
However, rattan garden furniture that you know have a long way yet to go before reaching its present form. Over time, the practice of weaving reeds into wicker furniture and a variety of woven containers began to spread.
At that time, Egypt was the trade capital of the Mediterranean region, and when the money changed hands, the culture, too often. So, the process of making wicker objects scattered around the world, shows a very prominent in medieval European culture, and also many other places.
People began to use materials from other reeds that are used in Egypt, such as pine trees, and other flexible woods will not break when weaving, like bamboo. Finally, as technology allows, people even began to use synthetic materials and the history of wicker furniture brings your garden until now. Although in all likelihood, there are many years of weaving history yet written.
